BROTHER IN NEED OF A KIDNEY DONATION - posted 3/18/2025

Fellow Retired Firefighter Barry “Reggie” Albrecht (L159), dedicated 27 years of service to the FDNY. Appointed in 1982, he spent his entire career with Ladder 159 in Brooklyn before retiring in 2009.

Sadly, Retired FF Albrecht is now in the final stage of Autosomal Polycystic Kidney Disease (APKD), a genetic disorder that causes numerous cysts to develop in the kidneys. The best chance for someone in his condition is a transplant from a living donor. Unfortunately, since APKD has affected all surviving members of his family, a relative donor is not an option.

His family and friends are reaching out in hopes of finding a match.
